Hey everyone,

On a side note, for those participants of the ACSI competition on friday, please do not wear both your NPU Jerseys unless you're sure it will be available for use on Friday.

See you guys tomorrow!

Today's training set me thinking. Thinking about the future of NPU, and everything else alongside it. I know that the training intensity level isn't high enough to some, and I also know that the training level is challenging to others.

For that of which I apologize, and will try my best to improve. The journey back home set me thinking, and it led me to one point that I'd like to share.

What kinda person are you?

Are you one who'd fall to negative comments? Are you one who'd fall and not pick yourself up; give up - after someone corrects you in a negative manner?

Are you one who'd gives up easily, and fails to yourself every time you hit a dead end, make a mistake, or cannot find a way out of the situation?

If someone of authority today were to go up to you, and says this straight in your face:
"Hey, you know how lousy you are?"
What would your response be?

Anger and eagerness to prove aside, if you were to agree with that person, and were to go like this:
"Yeah, I think he's right. I'm not really that good, and I can't really do ___ nor ___ that well..."
and get demoralized by it, then it only goes to prove what that person said to be true.

But if you think like this:
"Yes, he may be right. But I know I can do better."
Then the whole story changes.

That being said, I don't think that I'm a good president, nor a good leader for this club.

updates

Hi everyone,

I can see that the tagboard has been very active for the past few days, keep it up! Please bear with me for the long post, here are just a few important matters I would like all to take note of:

There'll be a pickup this coming Sunday (tmr, 26/04) at Bishan Park. For those who have no idea what a pickup is, it is basically a session where frisbee enthusiasts get together for a game of ultimate frisbee. It is with people we might not know from other schools. Timing is from 5pm till 730pm. Year 2s, please RSVP immediately if you're interested. Year 1s, you're free to join us if you're interested. You can reach me @ 92214732. Meet at Bishan MRT Station at 5pm sharp, and we'll go together.

Next training will be on Monday (27/04), 5pm at Kismis Field. If you wonder why is it not on Tuesday like we'd mentioned before, kindly refer to the last post for details. =) Training will be more challenging and more intense than last week's. If you're coming late 'cuz of classes, get changed quickly and join the rest. Just a reminder, please bring along the following compulsory items:
1. Two sports t-shirt (1 dark coloured, 1 white - no grey pls)
2. Water Bottle (PLEASE BRING!!!)
3. Proper Sports Attire

Hope to see all of you guys on Monday! Have a nice weekend!

--- --- ---

Gathering side information from Hongzhou and Alfred, who both gave suggestions as to how they'd like the club's blog to be further improved, I've administered the following changes:

Tagboard is now higher, for lazy people like hongzhou who doesnt like to scroll so much. (kudos to hongzhou)

Added a new section (Helpful links) for those who'd like to read up more about the sport and improve on their own. (kudos to alfred)

Added a list of compulsory items for the new members who're still unsure of what to bring. NOTE: Punishment will be imbued upon the 4th training session should any of the members forget to bring any of the listed items. (kudos to alfred)

I'm open to suggestions, and am currently working on the new shirt for the club. See you guys on monday!

Cheers,
Ian Ding Renjie.

Hot, hot day;

Hello guys

I've just given a ring to the President of Cricket Club, and I will try to simplify what he said to me.

I was told that he had already told all his members that his club's first meeting would be on the upcoming Tuesday (28th April), and would be too late for him to change the date and update everyone in his club. He could, however, exchange with me his training day (Tuesday) for our training day (Monday) on the 3rd week onwards.

In other words, the next training session would be on Monday, and it is only a temporary measure. Sorry for any inconvenience caused, and I'd understand if you guys cannot make it down.

For any queries, you could contact me at 97291404.

Cheers,
Ian Ding Renjie.

First Training Session!

Hi!

Thanks to all you warm hearted people who came down during training today! As for those tho felt that the training could be more intensive, that will be for you to decide in the long run.

Also, I'd like to thank those who made the effort to text/update me whether or not they were coming down, as well as those who came down although their lessons ended around the same time our training began!

Do check out this space for further updates on the next training session, as well as other events that would be on our list!

Cheers, and DISC-IN!
Ian Ding Renjie.

Start of Semester

It's the start of a new semester next week, hope everyone have had a fufiling holiday. 3 matters today.

CCA Fiesta this year will be held on Monday and Tuesday of the first week, 20th and 21st April. IT will be at the Convention Center. It's an opportunity for our club to recruit new members, and an opportunity for us to get CCA Points! That's right, we'll need you guys to man the booth. Timing for CCA Fiesta will be from 10am to 6pm, IIRC. I understand that there're lessons going on, but do come down and help out as there's a lack of manpower. If you're interested to come down, please check your timetable (there's no practical and tutorial lessons on the 1st week) and inform me asap which day, at what time you will be available. Thanks for your help. =)
Training will resume only on Thursday, due to CCA Fiesta.
Due to lack of players, we are not going to join the Teen Games. For those guys that weren't following the conversations in the tagboard, there's an event coming up, it's called Evolution Hat tournament. It is basically a pickup where a small amount of fee is collected from participants to raise funds for the Singapore National Youth Team for their KL Open. Details below.

Date of event: 1st May 2009, Friday (Labour Day)
Time of event: 1300-1800
Venue of event: Seng Kang Fields
Registration Fee: Min $5 per person. Free-will donations are welcomed and strongly encouraged.
Payment Mode: Cash ONLY
Things to bring: First Ultimate jersey (Dark & Light)
Format: Mixed
Registration Closing Date: 25 April 2009

Update for the teen games - So far I've received replies from 4 people, indicating they're interested in the competition: Bob, Ian, Khalise, Stozer, and myself. Spaces are limited, and I heard SP are sending teams for this com as well.

We need a minimum of 2 girls for the competition. I hope to hear replies soon.

Clarification...

Hi

In case there's any misunderstanding, the plan tomorrow is to for you to pass by the Main Field... If you spot us there, join us. If you see no one at the main field and no one at the stands, just wait at the stands for us, we'll be there soon. =)

Hi guys,

I appreciate that you drop by to note this!

As a form of appreciation, I promise to drop by often and post little updates to the best I can! We DO want the club to continue up on the rise, and further promote the sport right?

So........... On hand I've an event, and I'll need the people who're interested to RSVP me ASAP.

FYI: RSVP = "Répondez s'il vous plaît", a French phrase that translates to "please respond" and word for word means "respond if you please"

I'll see you guys all on Monday, and the venue should be Main Field if its unoccupied! Else, we'd be at Kismis.

Drop me a call if you're unsure. 97291404, on standby 24/7.

Cheers
Ian Ding Renjie (:
